18TH AMENDMENT

Founded by denim importer Rachel Rose and award-winning womenswear designer Rebecca Dawson, 18th Amendment is an Australian denim brand that’s ‘on the rise’, both metaphorically and literally. The label, named after the 18th Amendment of the American Constitution prohibiting the consumption and sale of alcohol, is widely credited for spearheading the return of high-waisted jeans.
Inspired by the gritty glamour of 20s and 30s speakeasy culture, as well as the coquettish elegance of silver screen icons of its time such as Gina Lollobrigida, Lauren Bacall and Ingrid Bergman, 18th Amendment references vintage fit, finishing and detailing but makes it modern and relevant to today. The signature Art Deco wing stitch detailing on the back pockets, inspired by Rolls Royce’s ‘Flying Lady’, epitomises the label’s high quality design approach and feminine vintage style. Colbert and Lollobrigida are currently its bestselling jeans.
Celebrity style icons who have embraced 18th Amendment’s unforced elegance include Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Mischa Barton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson and Kate Bosworth (pictured).
